Ian Hennessy brings extensive experience in coaching and player development to his role as Strategist & Coach at the Philadelphia Union Academy, where he oversees emerging professionals, college-bound student-athletes, and talent recruitment. At YSC Academy, he partners with our College Counselor to support all student-athletes in their college search process.

Previously, Ian served as Head Men’s Soccer Coach at the University of Delaware, leading the program to historic NCAA tournament appearances and producing multiple MLS draft picks. He has also coached at Boston College and Rutgers University, playing a key role in developing elite soccer talent.

A U.S. Soccer Federation Scout, Ian has helped identify top national prospects for Youth National Teams. As a player, he was a three-time Big East Champion, two-time Big East MVP, and an All-American, later competing professionally in MLS and other U.S. leagues. He also holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Columbia University, combining analytical rigor with deep soccer expertise.
